Health Check-up and Consultation Mela - 2015

The Community Engagement and Outreach Cell of the College in collaboration with the Health and Hygiene Committee organised a ‘Health Check-up Mela’ on March 26, 2015 in the college premises with the support of NGO- Shree Ji Sewa Sanstha.

A team of doctors from “ Medanta - The Medicity” visited the college. Free health check-up and medical advise facility were provided to all students, teaching & non teaching staff and the people of the neighbouring village areas. Several tests like Mammography, ECG , blood sugar test, ECO etc. were offered.

Along with health check-up services, a team of senior doctors provided medical consultations to patients and also prescribed the required medications for them. An awareness talk on “cervical cancer” was also arranged on this occasion in the multi-purpose hall of the college, where people from the neighbouring villages as well as the students and staff of the college interacted with the doctors and asked various questions.

Student volunteers also made use of this occasion to spread awareness among the participants about need for energy conservation and saving electricity by using LED bulbs in place incandescent bulbs and traditional tube lights. Eco-club of the college also arranged a screening of video on Agriculture and Harvesting for informing the people from the villages about better farming practices creating, which would be of benefit for them.

Overall it was a successful event with 257 persons availing of the health check-up and consultation services provided at the mela. Out of these 132 were students, 19 teachers , 14 non-teaching staff members and 92 persons from nearby villages.
