Report of Founder's Day Celebrations - 2013

The 20th Founder's Day of the college was celebrated on 23 August 2013 in the multipurpose hall of the college. The Secretary, Staff Council, Dr. Amrita Mehta welcomed the guests - Mr. Rajesh Muku, Director, Developments Consultants; members of the NGO, Centre of Advocacy and Research and members of the Mehak Theatre Group. The programme was attended by the Principal, Dr. Purabi Saikia, staff and students. A two-minute silence was observed to pray for the departed souls of two of our bright students - Ms. Jyoti, Vice-President of the College Student's Union, who battled with cancer and Ms. Sujata, Best Athlete 2012-13, who suffered a sudden fatal heart attack.

Welcoming Guests

Dr. Purabi Saikia was felicitated with flowers and thanked for providing expert guidance and direction to the institution since she took over as Principal in 2007. She welcomed and introduced the chief architect of the proposed building of the college, Mr. Rajesh Muku. Mr. Muku made a detailed presentation of the building plans with the help of a model and a hi-tech power point presentation explaining the layout, design and unique environment-friendly features of the proposed campus. He also fielded queries from staff and students regarding various aspects of the building plans.

Play and Audience

Following this, members of the Centre for Advocacy and Research and of the theatre troupe Mehak were welcomed by the Principal. A short play, "Akhir Kab Tak", was put up by the group followed by a question-answer session.


The theme of the play-women's emancipation and vocalisation- was appreciated and applauded by the audience. The NGO distributed printed material on women's issues among students. The programme concluded with thanks to all who spared their valuable time to visit the college and provided intellectual stimulation for staff and students.
