Activity Report of the Political Science Society “Siddhant”

 

Political Science Society The Political Science Society “Siddhant” started its activities for the year 2017-18 with the organisation . two events 1) Slogan writing on the themes of “Demonetisation, Education, Indian Politics and Reservation” and 2) Extempore speech on the topic of “Relevance of Fundamental Rights and Right to Privacy” on September 21, 2017.

The committee organised a field visit to the NGO Manav Ekta Mission on 13th October 2017 in which both the faculty members and students participated. Another field visit to the Parliament House was organised on November 10, 2017 during which the students were taken on a guided tour of the Rajya Sabha, Lok Sabha and the Parliament Museum.

On January 17, 2018 students attended a lecture on “India’s Foreign policy and security challenges in the contemporary world" organised in Vice Chancellor’s Lodge, University of Delhi. A quiz competition was organised on “Indian Politics” on January 31, 2018. A debate competition on the theme of “One Nation One Election” was organised on February 9, 2018.

On February 22, 2018 a special lecture on the topic of "Large Scale Resource Development in the Global South and its Gender Implications" was delivered by the distinguished political science Professor Kalowatie Deonandan from the University of Saskatchewan, Canada. Students showed keen interests in the presentation given by the speaker. The activities of Siddhant came to an end with prize distribution ceremony which was attended by large number of students.
